2007 Toyota of Stuart Bikers Challenge Ride

John Pierson, owner of Toyota of Stuart was all smiles as he surveyed the more than 3,000 motorcycle enthusiasts gathered under the blue skies and warm temperatures to participate in the 2007 Toyota of Stuart Bikers Challenge Ride to benefit the ARC of Martin County (Advocates for the Rights of the Challenged).   Riders left from Toyota of Stuart in Stuart, Archie’s in Fort Pierce and Iron Eagle Motorcycles in West Palm Beach following an established route where they collected poker playing cards.  Riders with the best hands were awarded prizes.

ARC board member Geoff Oldfather, an avid biker and chair of the event worked tirelessly to promote the event and incorporated the assistance of many ARC board members, staff and motorcycle clubs throughout South Florida.  Motorcycle enthusiasts came from near and far to participate in an event that included a day of riding, rock and roll and fun to help raise funds for this very worthy cause.

Nick, Marie, Keith and Amanda Muniz.  Keith Muniz is the
Executive Director of the ARC of Martin County.

Following the event, riders and guests were invited back to a free party to celebrate the success of the poker run at Toyota of Stuart.   Party goers jammed to the live sounds of local recording artist SWS, FRIENDS and national recording artist Bobby Friss and the Bobby Friss Band while enjoying the food and beverages that were for sale.  Children had fun in the bounce house and Arnold’s Wildlife brought two felines for the public to view.  Vendors were also lined up under tents talking to guests and displaying their wares throughout the day.

The highlight of the event was the announcement of Earle Edwards as the winner of an “Old School” Bobber style chopper built around a new V-Twin 1965 Panhead replica.  The custom chopper was donated by Red Devil Cycles and the motorcycle’s custom paint job has been donated by Dangerous Curves, Inc.  Raffle tickets were limited to 3,000.

In addition, attendees were able to get the first look at the new logo for Treasure Coast Bike Fest 2008, a three-day premier bike festival.  Larry Schultz, the logo designer was brought up on stage and congratulated for his work.  More details about the 2008 event will be announced in the coming months.

Due to the windy weather conditions, the tethered hot air balloon rides were canceled.  As a result, two hot air balloon ride certificates were auctioned off to the crowd at a value of $150 each.  One lucky winner opted to purchase both certificates.

Event sponsors were Toyota of Stuart, Red Devil Cycles, Dangerous Curves, Inc., First Peoples Bank, 94.3 Real Radio, Wave 92.7,  Eventmakers International, Martin Memorial Health Systems, FPL, and a host of others.  All of the poker runs were operated by volunteers from the Wings of Gold Port St. Lucie and Palm Beach chapters.

The funds raised as a result of the 2007 Toyota of Stuart Bikers Challenge Ride help support the ARC and their efforts to fund critical programs that empower children and adults with developmental disabilities to achieve their fullest potential.  For more information about the ARC of Martin County call Kathryn Treadwell at 772-283-2525 or go to www.arcmc.org.
